Carbon not so Neutral
Anthony Lister
Futura Image as Streetart Bourke Lane, CIty, Image taken by Futura's son..
Acclaim's latest cover, Host of the event Carbon Festival.
And the man himself...
On Sunday I skipped merrily along to Carbon at Fed Square, hosted by Acclaim Mag it sure was an all round blast. Having been
to Agideas I have to say Carbon sure is a Fledgeling, but for its first year it was great. ITs also a good alternative to spending $300 and up on a conference ticket (which is where AGideas starts) with tickets starting more around the $120 a day price.
Lenny or "Futura" the famed 70's NYC street artist was the Keynote, and he brought a lot to the table, both verbally and conceptually, definitely not physically. being one of the oldest there he gave sound advice about hammering on through and "just getting of your ass and working hard".
I like the fact that Anthony Lister just straight did what he wanted (fortunate enough for those of us who can sell our art for 10k a piece) but he had valid points about being true to yourself and how collaboration can help you if you let it.
My third and Final favourite was Noah Callahan Bever from Complex magazine. Noah is definitely an intelligent business driven creative and self confessed numbers addict but he threw so much light on running a website that it made this blog seem like a veritable speck. His ideas tied well with the others in Forum D and the motivation they gave to never just start something but to always begin with your best work was a real milestone for me.
All in all i would definitely go next year, i could give them a few tips but hey, who am I to be dishing.
yours truly, the speck xx L

A century of Self, Part 1
A fascinating documentary about advertising and mass media. Linking Mass produced goods with unconscious desire. If you havent already seen this then you need to sit down, and give 4 hours of your life to it. You will not regret it. Lurid xx
